About the event
We often take for granted that new board members understand their roles and responsibilities when they show up to board service with your association. But how do you really know that all board members are on the same page? This workshop will focus on the core legal responsibilities for every board member. We'll talk about the necessary focus of all board, governing the association, versus "doing" and "managing" the work. We'll share some suggested board practices that help you carry out those core duties.
Guest Speaker: Ned Cooney, Facilitator/Consultant of Bigfork, Montana specializes in nonprofits and associations, philanthropy, community groups, businesses and public agencies. His early career was in the nonprofit sector, as executive director, program staff and board member. Now, Ned serves client organizations in his consulting practice by helping people learn and make better decisions together. Ned specializes in organizational planning, board development, support for executives, and effective meetings and retreats. Ned is a former member and Chair of the Board of Montana Nonprofit Association and has served as a member of MNA’s Nonprofit Public Policy Council since its start in 2006.
